What to Know About Your Hawaii Sport Fishing Adventure

If you’re looking for one of the most adventurous and exciting activities in Hawaii, without question your choice is for a Hawaii Sport Fishing Adventure. Joining the captain and crew, you’ll head out in search of the day’s catch and the adventure of your vacation,

Which type of charter? Private or Semi-Private
There are two choices when it comes your Hawaii sport fishing adventure. A private charter is an exclusive expedition, with only your party on board the boat (along with the crew). A semi-private charter is a shared excursion and you’ll be joined by others who have booked a sport fishing adventure, giving you the chance to make new friends on board!

How does the crew divide up the catch?
Each fishing boat has its own rules for divvying up the catch. You will get to keep some of what you catch, and the boat keeps the rest, providing the catch to fish markets.

Should we bring food and drinks on board?
Yes, most definitely. You will be given suggestions on what to bring but there are generally no restrictions on what you can bring. Be sure to bring enough food for the day, and plenty of water. You will also want to bring items to help protect you from the sun, including a high SPF sunblock, a hat, sunglasses, light jacket, and anything else that you might feel is necessary.

How long are we at sea?
This depends on what you have booked. If you have booked a full-day deep sea fishing charter, you will be out at sea for anywhere from 8-10 hours, just depending on ocean conditions and what has been caught. A half-day charter lasts between 4-6 hours, and stays close to land because of the duration of the day.
